Gwangyang-si to Conduct Citizen Informatization Education This Year
Starting Next Month 2, Held at Four Informatization Training Centers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City announced on the 15th that it will provide free citizen informatization education at four informatization education centers in Gwangyang-eup, Jungma-dong, Gwangyeong-dong, and Geumho-dong starting from the 2nd of next month, aiming to bridge the information gap among citizens and offer educational opportunities suitable for the information age.
The curriculum includes basic internet skills, document creation using Hangul, Excel, and PowerPoint, blog and video production, smartphone utilization, and other courses designed to strengthen basic computer competencies, as well as courses needed by citizens in the untact (contactless) era.
Any Gwangyang citizen can apply, and after registering at the designated regional academies (Gwangyeong and Geumho-dong - New Jeonnam Computer Academy; Gwangyang-eup and Jungma-dong - 21st Century Computer Academy) at least 7 days before the course starts, they can attend the education.
The city will continue the education while complying with COVID-19 related guidelines and will switch to non-face-to-face video education if necessary.
Additionally, since April, apart from the four informatization education centers, other education centers have been promoting digital life education such as device operation methods for smartphones, online shopping, and train ticket reservations near residents' homes through the 'Digital Competency Enhancement Education Project' led by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Furthermore, this year's informatization education schedule can be checked on the city’s official website.
