Digital New Deal Project Briefing... 1.9 Trillion Won for Data, Education, and Contactless Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Seolgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 15th that it will hold the '2021 Digital New Deal Project Briefing Session' on the 16th at 1 PM, focusing on public offering projects worth 1.9 trillion KRW.
In this briefing session, conducted jointly with related ministries, the major public offering projects scheduled for this year are broadly divided into three areas: ▲ Strengthening the D.N.A. ecosystem ▲ Education infrastructure and non-face-to-face industries ▲ SOC digitalization, in that order. It involves 10 ministries and 23 major public offering projects, totaling 1.9 trillion KRW.
Specifically, it accelerates economic growth based on data, network, and AI, collectively called D.N.A., through projects such as AI learning data construction (292.5 billion KRW), data company matching support (40 billion KRW), immersive content production support (30.8 billion KRW), and ICT convergence smart factory dissemination and expansion project (418.3 billion KRW).
Additionally, it supports the advancement of education infrastructure and the fostering of non-face-to-face industries through projects such as Korean Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) (23.69 billion KRW), AI and Internet of Things (IoT)-based pilot projects for elderly health management (9.46 billion KRW), and non-face-to-face service voucher support projects (216 billion KRW). The digitalization of major national infrastructure (SOC) is also actively promoted through projects like 5G-based digital twin public lead (16 billion KRW) and advanced road traffic system projects (517.9 billion KRW). Direct support projects for local governments and ongoing projects are not included.
The briefing session will be streamed live online from 2 to 5 PM via KakaoTV, YouTube, and other platforms to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with separate times allocated for pre-submitted and on-site Q&A. Real-time participation is possible by searching for the 'NIA TV' channel on each platform. After the briefing, presentation materials, videos, and Q&A content can be accessed on the Digital New Deal website.
Jang Seok-young, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “We will strive to rapidly advance the Digital New Deal so that the public can feel the results of the New Deal within the year,” and added, “We will listen to the voices from companies and local governments on the ground and actively reflect them in policies to jointly achieve the success of the Digital New Deal.”
