Easing Social Distancing, Academies and Private Institutes: "Accommodation Facilities Within Academies Allowed If Quarantine Rules Are Followed"
Social Distancing for Hagwon and Gyoseupso: Level 2 in the Capital Area, Level 1.5 in Non-Capital Areas
Operation of Lodging Facilities within Hagwon Allowed with Separate Quarantine Rules
"Effective from 0:00 on the 15th to 24:00 on the 28th"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Starting from the 15th, social distancing measures will be adjusted to Level 2 in the Seoul metropolitan area and Level 1.5 in non-metropolitan areas for two weeks, resulting in some relaxation of operational guidelines for academies and private institutes.
On the 13th, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that from the 15th for two weeks, social distancing will be eased to Level 2 in the Seoul metropolitan area and Level 1.5 in non-metropolitan areas. Accordingly, operational guidelines for academies·and private institutes will be supplemented and revised regarding quarantine measures, and these will be implemented from 0:00 on the 15th until 24:00 on the 28th for two weeks.
In the Seoul metropolitan area, Level 2 social distancing quarantine rules apply, and if the number of users is limited to one person per 8㎡ of facility area (or maintaining two seats apart), there is no separate restriction on operating hours. However, if the number of users is limited to one person per 4㎡ (or maintaining one seat apart), operations must stop after 10 PM. For academies that operate lodging facilities, considering the relatively higher risk of infection, separate quarantine rules identical to those under Level 2.5 must be followed.
In non-metropolitan areas, Level 1.5 social distancing quarantine rules apply, and if the number of users is limited to one person per 4㎡ (or maintaining one seat apart), there is no separate restriction on operating hours. However, some local governments that have completed consultations with the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will apply Level 2 social distancing.
This measure was taken in response to recent calls for lowering the social distancing levels. While operational restrictions for academies and private institutes are somewhat relaxed, quarantine measures have been supplemented to be more thorough, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters. The Headquarters emphasized, "Academies and private institutes must strictly adhere to the presented quarantine rules to proactively prevent infections among members and users and ensure no confirmed cases occur."
