Mother of 2-year-old who died in Gumi arrested on "flight risk" concerns
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] In connection with the case where a 2-year-old girl was found dead in a villa in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, the child's mother, Ms. A, has been arrested.
The Daegu District Court Gimcheon Branch held a pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant review) for Ms. A on the same day and issued an arrest warrant. The court reportedly judged that there was a "risk of flight."
The deceased girl was discovered around 3 p.m. on the 10th in a villa in Sangmosagok-dong, Gumi City, by Ms. A's parents who live on the floor below in the same building, and they reported it to the police. Ms. A is suspected of causing the death by neglecting her young daughter in the home where she lived (charge of murder).

Ms. A moved six months ago and it is understood that she was already aware of the child's death. The police have requested an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and are also investigating whether abuse was involved.
