Unknown singer Jeong Hong-il spreads wings as runner-up on 'Sing Again'
Magma's 'Haeya' Performance Showcased in the Finals
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Recently, singer Jung Hongil, a musician selected for support by the Gyeongnam Music Creation Center's Musicis program, won the honor of 2nd place on JTBC's popular show 'Sing Again'.
The final round of 'Sing Again' was the ultimate championship stage for the TOP6 finalists who advanced through 5 rounds out of a total of 71 participating teams.
Singer Jung Hongil performed second in the final competition, and his last song was 'Haya' by Magma.
As he introduced himself as 'authentic heavy metal' in the first episode, he chose a song that best represented his style for the final performance and faced the competition head-on.
In the final, which was scored by a combination of online pre-voting (10%), judges' scores (40%), and real-time text voting (50%), Jung Hongil achieved an astonishing 779 points out of 800 from the judges, ranking first in that category, but ultimately placed 2nd in the total combined score, leaving some regret.
Singer Jung Hongil was born in Masan, Gyeongnam, and currently resides and performs music in Gimhae.
The song he performed at the previous TOP10 naming ceremony, 'If I Can Just Breathe,' was created through the 'Gyeongnam Music Creation Center Album Production Support Project' and received high praise from viewers and judges alike.
Additionally, all the songs he performed in the competition, including 'Please,' 'A Flower That Never Bloomed,' 'Maria,' and 'Haya,' received active support for recording rehearsals and vocal production as part of his competition preparation.
