[Concall] KT, "5G B2B to be Adopted First in Smart Factory"
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Kim Young-jin, KT Chief Financial Officer (CFO), answered that the first 5G business-to-business (B2B) service area to be adopted would be smart factories during the 2020 Q4 earnings conference call held on the afternoon of the 9th.
CFO Kim stated, “KT is leading innovation in the manufacturing industry centered on smart factories and is striving to secure core competencies through strategic equity investments in Hyundai Robotics. Currently, we have received 42 orders for 5G smart factory collaborative robots, and a hybrid service that provides both robots and services is being offered.”
He also said, “We are discovering and progressing B2B commercialization cooperation cases in shipbuilding, construction, medical, and media sectors. In particular, based on 5G technology controlling unmanned machinery vehicles with Hyundai Construction Equipment, we support emergency control, and with Samsung Hospital, we enable rapid and accurate analysis by delivering high-capacity data generated during digital surgeries to pathology faculty in real time.”

Furthermore, he added, “The B2B business areas will be diversely expanded to smart factories, connected cars, and immersive media. For small and medium enterprises, we will provide 5G B2B services tailored to customers focusing on solutions with high demand, and for mid-sized companies, we will offer cloud-based platform-centered services to pioneer new markets.”
