Wando County Council Launches 'Support Local Businesses Campaign'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] The Wando County Council in Jeonnam (Chairman Heo Gung-hee) announced on the 9th that it conducted a "Use Local Businesses" campaign under the slogan "Cheer Up Small Business Owners, Rise Up Local Economy" to revive the stagnant local economy and encourage struggling small business owners.
On the 8th, Chairman Heo Gung-hee, along with eight council members and 19 officials from the council's secretariat, visited small local businesses such as Wando Central Market to purchase daily necessities including ritual items, conducting the "Use Local Businesses" campaign and encouraging merchants.
The campaign involved visiting stores wearing sashes with slogans such as "Fighting COVID-19, Wando Residents Will Win," "Let's Use Local Businesses," and "Cheer Up Wando Small Business Owners," purchasing goods with self-funded local love gift certificates and cash.
Chairman Heo Gung-hee said, "We launched this campaign to comfort the small business owners and Wando residents who are suffering greatly from the unprecedented infectious disease COVID-19 and to foster a spirit of participation among residents to use local businesses and revive the local economy."
Some council members also encouraged taxi drivers struggling due to decreased passengers around the bus terminal area and distributed 3,000 masks for COVID-19 prevention.

Meanwhile, on the 4th, the council enacted an ordinance to establish the basis for emergency disaster relief funds and convened an emergency extraordinary session to review and approve the executive branch's request for a 5 billion won disaster relief fund budget, passing a one-point supplementary budget proposal.
