Gyeongnam Province Operates 'Livestock Quarantine Situation Room' 24 Hours During Lunar New Year Holiday
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 9th that it will implement measures to block the inflow of malignant livestock infectious diseases such as African Swine Fever (ASF), Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), Avian Influenza (AI), and FMD within the province during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Currently, there have been 87 cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza nationwide. African Swine Fever has been detected 1,045 times in wild boars in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do, indicating a high risk of outbreak on farms.
Accordingly, the province will operate livestock quarantine situation rooms in the provincial and city/county offices during the holiday period to maintain a 24-hour emergency status. January 10 and 15 have been designated as "Simultaneous Disinfection Days," during which disinfection vehicles owned by the province and city/county offices, the NongHyup joint prevention team, and equipment owned by farms will be mobilized to disinfect livestock facilities and farms within the province.
Disinfection of livestock vehicles will also be conducted using 20 nearby key disinfection facilities within the jurisdiction.
