Lotte Food Surpasses 1 Million Cans Sold of 100% Domestic Pork 'K-Rospam'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Consumer interest is heating up for the canned ham 'K-Rospam,' created through a win-win partnership between Lotte Foods and domestic Korean pork farms.
On the 9th, Lotte Foods announced that K-Rospam, a canned ham made with 100% domestically produced pork, surpassed cumulative sales of 1 million cans just three months after its launch.
K-Rospam is a new canned ham product launched in November last year. It is made from Korean pork in collaboration with the Korea Pork Producers Association to promote the consumption of Korean pork, which had declined due to COVID-19, and to support pork farms nationwide.
Using only fresh domestic pork, it enhances flavor and texture, and achieves a deep and rich taste through low-temperature aging at 5°C or below for 24 hours. Notably, K-Rospam contains 95.03% pork, the highest meat content among domestic canned hams.
Ahead of this Lunar New Year holiday, Lotte Foods plans to expand sales of canned ham made with Korean pork by releasing six types of gift sets containing 'K-Rospam.' The sets include not only those composed solely of K-Rospam canned ham but also mixed sets with various items such as cooking oil, sesame oil, and pink salt, broadening consumer choices.
Additionally, on January 21, Lotte Foods uploaded a promotional video titled 'K-Rospam Song' featuring singer Nataejoo, well known for Taekwondo Trot, and traditional Korean music singer Kwon Mihee, on its official YouTube channel to intensify marketing efforts.
A Lotte Foods representative said, "This holiday season, we recommend enjoying the deep flavor of high-quality ham made with 100% domestic pork through 'K-Rospam,' while also supporting our Korean pork farms, creating a win-win happiness."

Meanwhile, 'Rospam' is a purely domestic technology square canned ham brand first produced in June 1983. Until then, canned ham in Korea was only produced in cylindrical cans, but starting with Rospam, square canned hams began to be produced domestically as well.
