Miryang City Museum Transforms into an 'Immersive' and 'Smart' Museum
Selected for 'Immersive Exhibition Content Production' and 'Smart Museum Construction', Securing 600 Million KRW in National Funding

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 8th, the Miryang City Museum in Gyeongnam announced that it has been selected for the 'Public Museum Immersive Content Production and Experience Space Creation Support Project' and the 'Smart Public Museum Construction Support Project' organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Smart Museum Infrastructure Project, part of the Korean New Deal initiative, is a support project aimed at revitalizing museums by developing new content using future technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution era and providing visitors with unique cultural experience services.
Through the immersive content production project, with 500 million KRW each from national and local governments, the museum will exhibit extended reality content, 4D-based immersive video simulators, social media art cubes, and interactive media art.
Through the smart museum construction project, with 100 million KRW each from national and local governments, the museum will develop and build a smart exhibition viewing app, digital collection search system, visitor statistics and guidance system utilizing location sensors, and an online exhibition education platform.

Curator Lee Ho-jong said, "There is a trend of experiencing and empathizing with culture and history through new exhibition content, changing the attributes of cultural enjoyment," adding, "If visitors can see actual artifacts and enhance understanding through virtual experiences, satisfaction will increase not only in terms of interest but also educationally."
