'Seungriho' Tops Netflix Most Played for Two Consecutive Days
Ranking Rise Also in the US and Japan
Director Jo Sung-hee's film "Seungriho" was the most streamed on Netflix for two consecutive days. According to FlixPatrol, a video content chart company, the film scored 648 points on the second day of its release, the 7th. It surpassed "Aloha! Searching for Ohana (459 points)" to take the top spot among popular Netflix movies.
"Seungriho" was the most streamed film in 28 of the approximately 190 countries where Netflix is available, including South Korea, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Estonia, and Finland. In the United States, its ranking rose from 7th to 5th, and in Japan, from 5th to 3rd.
This is the second time a Korean film has ranked number one among popular movies on Netflix. The previous hit was "#Alive," which was released in theaters last summer before spreading on Netflix.

"Seungriho" was originally scheduled to be released in theaters last year but was repeatedly postponed due to the spread of COVID-19. It was simultaneously released worldwide on Netflix on the 5th. The story follows the crew of the space junk cleanup ship Seungriho in 2092, who discover Dorothy, a humanoid robot known as a weapon of mass destruction, and get involved in a dangerous deal. The cast includes Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae-ri, Jin Sun-kyu, Yoo Hae-jin, and Richard Armitage.
