The elderly receiving the special holiday meal package lunchboxes this Lunar New Year are 1,011 vulnerable seniors, including low-income and living-alone elderly residents in the district.
Nam-gu has allocated a project budget of 18.2 million KRW to order the package lunchboxes and support special meals for the elderly in the district.
In particular, to ensure that the elderly do not worry about meals even after the Lunar New Year holiday, the special meal packages will be provided for 6 days, which is two days more than the 4-day holiday period.
The package lunchboxes will be provided by four organizations: Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center, Yangji Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Bundo and Anna Ant Flower Garden, and Nam-gu Senior Club. For elderly residents who have difficulty visiting the facilities, volunteers will visit their homes to deliver the meals directly.
The lunchboxes are expected to include rice, seasoned vegetables, jeon (Korean pancakes), fruit, tteokguk (rice cake soup), eggs, sikhye (sweet rice drink), yakgwa (honey cookies), and various side dishes.
