Replacement of Jeong Gyeong-sim's Appeal Trial Panel... Three High Court Chief Judges to Preside
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The second trial of Professor Jeong Gyeongshim of Dongyang University, who was indicted for her children's admission fraud and private equity fund suspicions, sentenced to a prison term in the first trial and detained in court, will be handled by a panel of three presiding judges from the High Court.
On the 5th, the Seoul High Court announced that, according to the regular court personnel reshuffle, the Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul High Court will be presided over by Chief Judges Lee Seungryeon (56, 20th class), Eom Sangpil (53, 23rd class), and Shim Dam (52, 24th class).
Until now, the Criminal Division 1 was composed of one High Court chief judge and two High Court judges. However, with this reshuffle, the entire panel has been formed solely of High Court chief judges, creating a collegial panel of equals. Accordingly, the Criminal Division 1 is expected to review the records of Professor Jeong's case and soon hold the first trial or pre-trial hearing to examine the case.
