Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Announces Cities Selected for '2021 Urban Agriculture Space Development Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government will support the creation of rooftop gardens and the cultivation of air-purifying plants on the rooftops of public institution buildings nationwide.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 5th that it has selected 37 local governments to implement the '2021 Urban Agriculture Space Creation Project.'
This project is implemented for local governments that can create rooftop gardens, vertical greening, and indoor gardens on the rooftops and indoor/outdoor walls of public institution buildings.
The 'Jayeon-ga(家)-deuk' project, which refers to the creation of indoor plant landscaping facilities, selected 19 locations including Gwanak-gu, Seoul; public farms selected 8 locations including Dobong-gu, Seoul; and rooftop gardens selected 10 locations including Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul.
This year’s national treasury support amount is 1.25 billion KRW (50% national treasury, 50% local government funds). Up to 1 million KRW in operating expenses will be supported per location.
The selected local governments will be able to promote the Jayeon-ga(家)-deuk project until December this year.
