Gyeongbuk Province to Recruit 1,951 Public Officials This Year... Personality Test Included in 8th and 9th Grade Open Competitive Exams
Selection of 45 Grade 7, 113 Grade 8, 1,714 Grade 9, 32 Research Positions, and 47 Supervisory Positions
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 4th that it will post the '2021 Gyeongsangbuk-do Local Government Employee Recruitment Plan' on the provincial government website on the 5th.
This year, the planned number of local government employees to be recruited by Gyeongbuk Province was confirmed at 1,951. This includes 45 for Grade 7, 113 for Grade 8, 1,714 for Grade 9, 32 for research positions, and 47 for guidance positions. This is a decrease of 310 from last year's 2,261.
The open competitive recruitment exam will select 1,777 candidates across 21 job series including Grade 7 administrative positions, and the career competitive recruitment exam will select 174 candidates across 17 job series including Grade 7 veterinary positions.
To expand opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups to enter public service, separate recruitment will be conducted to increase representation within public office, including 115 for persons with disabilities, 39 for low-income groups, and 20 recommended by the Veterans Affairs Office.
The separate recruitment for technical high school graduates plans to select 31 candidates, which is 7 more than last year. The recruitment target rate for technical high school graduates will be gradually expanded to 30% by next year.
This year’s exam schedule starts with the career recruitment exam for research positions on April 10, followed by the Grade 9 open competitive exam on June 5, and the Grade 7 open competitive exam and technical high school separate recruitment on October 16.
Changes starting this year should also be noted. Applicants cannot submit duplicate applications for local government employee recruitment exams held on the same date, and the additional points of 0.5~1% previously awarded for telecommunications, information processing, and office management certifications will be abolished.
Additionally, for the Grade 7 and guidance open competitive exams, English and Korean history subjects will be replaced by certification exams, and particularly, personality tests will be conducted for those who pass the written exams for the Grade 8 and 9 open competitive exams.

Kang Sung-jo, Deputy Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "Personality tests will be conducted for the Grade 8 and 9 open competitive exams to thoroughly verify suitability for public office, and we will select talents equipped with future-oriented capabilities to lead the 4th Industrial Revolution and Green New Deal policies."
