Operation of ‘Gwangjin-type Shared Shopping Cart Rental’
Pilot Operation for One Month in February at Jayang Traditional Market and Junggok Jeil Market... Cart Size and Rental Locations Selected Considering Traditional Market Environment
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has launched a pilot operation of the ‘Gwangjin-style Shared Shopping Cart Rental Service’ to increase the usage rate of local traditional markets and enhance the convenience for customers.
This project rents foldable carts to customers who find it difficult to carry items while shopping at traditional markets, aiming to increase the frequency of visits to traditional markets and revitalize the markets.
The district introduced foldable carts to address the issue of large cart sizes, which was a problem in other districts that operated existing cart rental services.
Also, considering the traditional market environment with multiple entrances, the cart rental locations are set at several key stores to allow residents to use the service practically.
Initially, this project will be piloted for one month in February at two locations: Jayang Traditional Market and Junggok Jeil Market.
At Jayang Traditional Market, 24 carts will be placed at 8 key stores, and at Junggok Jeil Market, 30 carts will be placed at 10 key stores.
Additionally, 20 carts have been purchased as spares to prepare for damage or loss, operating a total of 74 carts.
Each cart is assigned a management number to prevent theft or loss.
To use the service, customers fill out a rental ledger including consent and personal information, then borrow a cart. After shopping, the cart should be returned to a key store or the merchants’ association office.
After the pilot operation ends, a satisfaction survey of customers and merchants will be conducted, followed by a second pilot operation scheduled for May.
