Gwangju Nam-gu Supports Renovation of Aged Slate and Roofs in Residential Buildings
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 4th that it will invest 234.24 million KRW in a project to remove old slate roofs from residential and non-residential buildings and support roof improvements for vulnerable households to protect residents' health through residential environment improvement.
Applications for the '2021 Slate Disposal and Vulnerable Household Roof Improvement Support Project' will be accepted until the 26th at the 16 administrative welfare centers in the district.
Applicants must be the owners of the buildings. If family members, tenants, contractors, or others submit the application on behalf of the owner, additional documents such as a family relationship certificate, lease contract, and slate disposal consent form must be submitted.
The support amount for residential slate is fully covered for vulnerable households, while general households can receive up to 3.44 million KRW.
For non-residential slate such as warehouses and livestock sheds, full support is provided for roof areas of 200㎡ or less. Roof improvements for residential buildings are supported up to 10 million KRW for vulnerable households and up to 3 million KRW for general households.
Selection of beneficiaries prioritizes households receiving basic living subsidies as first priority, low-income households as second priority, vulnerable households including single-parent families, multi-child families, elderly living alone, and disabled persons with income below the median as third priority, and general households as fourth priority.
However, in cases where asbestos dispersion poses a serious health risk, slate removal support will be provided regardless of priority.
Nam-gu plans to select beneficiaries next month after review and begin the removal of old slate and roof improvement construction around April.
