[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Hyundai Livart is introducing an unprecedentedly bold furniture delivery service. It is the first in the domestic furniture industry to start a 'Next-Day Delivery' service that delivers home furniture purchased at online and offline stores the very next day.
Hyundai Livart, a total interior company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced on the 4th that it will officially operate the 'Next-Day Delivery' service for all general home furniture products.
While some products such as sofas and bookshelves have been delivered the next day in the domestic furniture industry, this is the first time that all home furniture items are delivered the next day. Previously, Hyundai Livart had been piloting a next-day delivery service for sofa products only in the metropolitan area since October last year, the first in the furniture industry.
The newly introduced Next-Day Delivery service is applied to all home furniture products purchased by 12 PM on weekdays at the official online mall Livart Mall and offline stores, when delivered to the metropolitan area including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon. In particular, customers can choose their preferred delivery time when ordering: morning (9 AM?12 PM), afternoon (1 PM?6 PM), or evening (7 PM?9 PM).
However, if purchased on weekends or public holidays, delivery will be made two days after the order date, and if delivery is requested outside the metropolitan area, it will take three or more days as before. A Hyundai Livart official explained, "Considering the increased demand for furniture purchases due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the rising customer needs and trends for fast delivery services, we introduced this bold delivery service."
The items eligible for next-day delivery include over 5,200 types of home furniture products such as sofas, Livart dining tables, storage cabinets, mattresses, and furniture products from four brands of the U.S. premium home furnishing company Williams Sonoma (Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, West Elm). However, kitchen furniture, built-in wardrobes, and middle doors that require prior measurement and separate installation or construction are excluded from the service. Small items such as tableware and lighting are also excluded.
Hyundai Livart can offer this bold next-day furniture delivery service in the metropolitan area thanks to its advanced logistics and delivery infrastructure. To operate the next-day delivery service, it increased delivery and installation personnel by about 10% and newly formed a dedicated logistics team of about 20 members. The logistics and delivery infrastructure has been expanded to strengthen the B2C business.
At the Livart Smart Work Center, a five-story building with an investment of 139.5 billion KRW, a large-scale logistics center was newly established. Hyundai Livart's total logistics center area has nearly doubled from the previous 72,000㎡ to 144,000㎡, and the average daily shipment capacity has increased by 2.3 times compared to before, significantly enhancing logistics functions.
