Yangcheon-gu Strives to Support Business Losses for Academies and Multi-use Facilities
Expected Support for 250 Locations Including Academies, Indoor Sports Facilities, PC Rooms, and Kids Cafes Excluded from Government's 3rd Disaster Relief Fund (Butimok Fund)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will provide support funds to businesses excluded from the third disaster relief fund (Buttress Fund) despite faithfully complying with the government's strict social distancing measures, including gathering bans and business restrictions, to partially compensate for their business losses.
In April last year, the district paid 386 million KRW in closure support funds to karaoke rooms, PC rooms, and fitness facilities that participated in the strong social distancing closure. It also provided 580 million KRW in support funds to academies and private institutes using the district's disaster management fund and contingency funds.
Additionally, in May and June, the district supported small business owners of coin karaoke rooms subject to COVID-19 gathering bans with a special quarantine support fund of 27 million KRW and provided 74 million KRW in closure support funds for high-risk indoor group exercise facilities using the district's disaster management fund.
This time, the support targets businesses excluded from the Buttress Fund due to unregistered business status or exceeding the small business criteria, aiming to alleviate the economic difficulties of business owners who have endured economic losses and hardships due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
First, academies that complied with the gathering ban from December 8, 2020, to January 3, 2021, but did not receive the Buttress Fund will each receive 500,000 KRW.
Also, among businesses that complied with gathering bans and business restrictions from December 5, 2020, to January 17, 2021, PC rooms, arcades, kids cafes, and other cultural distribution businesses, as well as indoor sports facilities such as gyms and swimming pools that are actually operating as of the application date and did not receive the Buttress Fund, will each receive 1 million KRW.
The district will promptly verify eligibility and complete payments before the Lunar New Year holiday. However, if one person operates multiple businesses (academies, cultural distribution businesses, indoor sports facilities), support will be provided for only one business.
Detailed information can be found on the district's website notice board. Inquiries regarding academies can be made to the district office's Education Support Division, and inquiries about cultural distribution businesses and indoor sports facilities can be directed to the district office's Culture and Sports Division.
