Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority to Promote Opening of Haneul-daero in Yeongjong Sky City Ahead of the 3rd Interconnection Bridge

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority is pushing to open Haneul-daero, which has remained unopened for seven years after road construction, ahead of the Third Yeonryuk Bridge to improve traffic convenience for residents of Yeongjong Haneul City.
On the 3rd, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority held a meeting attended by officials from Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Incheon Facilities Management Corporation, and Jung-gu district to discuss the opening plan for Haneul-daero, which is 1.75 km long and has 8 lanes in both directions.
Haneul-daero in Yeongjong Haneul City is 1.75 km long with 8 lanes in both directions and was constructed in 2013. However, due to delays in the opening of the Third Yeonryuk Bridge, the section from the Third Yeonryuk Bridge starting point to Haechannaerae Underpass has not been opened, causing residents to suffer from traffic congestion during commuting hours.
Accordingly, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to open a temporary road 12 meters wide and 20 meters long connecting Haneul-daero and surrounding roads, to be operated until the Third Yeonryuk Bridge opens.
The temporary road will be constructed utilizing the buffer green zone, and there are ongoing discussions to restore the area to its original state once the Third Yeonryuk Bridge opens in 2025.
An official from the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority stated, "We will actively prepare measures together with related organizations to resolve the traffic inconvenience of Yeongjong Haneul City residents."

Yeongjong Haneul City, jointly developed by LH and Incheon Urban Corporation under Incheon City at a 70:30 ratio, will accommodate 135,000 people by building a total of 53,000 households including apartments, residential-commercial complexes, and detached houses in the 19.3 km² area around Unnam-dong, Jung-gu, near Incheon International Airport.
