[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, is launching the public delivery app 'Baedal e-eum' based on the local currency Yeonsu e-eum to revitalize the local commercial district, which has been depressed due to COVID-19.
Accordingly, Yeonsu e-eum users can place delivery orders through the local public delivery app without separate brokerage fees, advertising fees, or membership fees, while enjoying the nation's highest cashback benefits of 10-24%.
Yeonsu-gu announced on the 3rd that it plans to officially open Baedal e-eum starting in March, following a pilot launch on the 8th, merchant recruitment, and system pilot operation.
Baedal e-eum was promoted to support self-employed and small business owners who have suffered double hardships due to the monopoly and excessive fee structure of private delivery apps last year, and to promote the development of the local economy.
In particular, amid the spread of non-face-to-face delivery culture due to COVID-19, the plan is to establish the public delivery app early by utilizing the Yeonsu e-eum platform, which has secured 220,000 subscribers, more than half of the total population of Yeonsu-gu.
Baedal e-eum offers a 10% basic cashback from Incheon City through payments made with the local currency Yeonsu e-eum, as well as an additional 3-7% discount at 혜택+ merchants and a 7% additional cashback from Yeonsu-gu.
The district plans to actively promote Baedal e-eum through various channels so that Yeonsu-gu residents can enjoy more benefits, aiming to secure 2,000 혜택+ merchants within this year through aggressive activities.
Also, the public delivery app will be prioritized for 혜택+ merchants, the Youth Dining Business Support Center, traditional markets, youth malls, and other youth enterprises, and the system will be efficiently managed through overall policy education.
Gonam-seok, Mayor of Yeonsu-gu, said, "We hope Baedal e-eum will breathe new life into the local economy frozen by COVID-19 and serve as an opportunity to revive the depressed local commercial district," adding, "We will support increasing the number of participating merchants so that many residents can enjoy the benefits of Baedal e-eum."
