Somagen Signs Annual Supply Agreement with US FTGCare for 'SalivaDirect COVID-19 Diagnostic Service'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] SomaGen announced on the 3rd that it signed an annual supply contract for the saliva test method 'SalivaDirect™ COVID-19 Diagnostic Service' with US-based FTG Holdings LLC. (hereinafter FTGCare) on the 13th of last month and has started diagnostic services nationwide across the United States.
FTGCare is a company that provides healthcare services to organizations in need of medical services by connecting with medical personnel, medical institutions, and diagnostic agencies nationwide across the United States. It has been regularly providing COVID-19 diagnostic tests nationwide in the US.
Under the supply contract for the SalivaDirect™ COVID diagnostic service, FTGCare will be responsible for sample collection and transportation for SalivaDirect™ COVID-19 diagnostics targeting employees of existing clients. SomaGen will receive and test the samples and provide test results within 48 hours. SomaGen expects to perform more than 1,500 tests weekly. In the first week of service launch, approximately 1,700 tests were already conducted.
Ryan Kim, CEO of SomaGen, said, "This service supply contract nationwide in the US is the first achievement since signing the licensing contract as a supplier of SalivaDirect™ COVID-19 diagnostic services with Yale University in the US last December," adding, "It is significant in that it confirmed the possibility of expanding and providing this service in the future."
He added, "Currently, in the area near Washington D.C., SomaGen is the only company that can provide SalivaDirect™ COVID-19 diagnostic services, so we expect the number of companies regularly requesting tests from SomaGen, like FTGCare, to continue to increase."
A SomaGen official stated, "Along with the annual supply contract with FTGCare, we are currently promoting a regular testing contract with The Park School located in Baltimore, Maryland," adding, "We are currently operating a pilot SalivaDirect™ COVID-19 diagnostic service for about 140 people."
He added, "Through these references, we plan to focus on targeting public schools and related institutions expected to normalize from early this year and expand the provision of SalivaDirect™ COVID-19 diagnostic services."
