High Pathogenic AI Confirmed at Icheon Laying Hen Farm... 84th Domestic Farm Case
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] A highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) case has been confirmed at a laying hen farm in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The AI Central Accident Response Headquarters (CARH) announced on the 2nd that after conducting a detailed inspection of the farm where the H5 antigen was detected the previous day, it was confirmed to be the highly pathogenic H5N8 strain.
The number of highly pathogenic AI cases reported at domestic poultry farms and experience farms has totaled 84.
CARH carried out preventive culling of poultry raised within a 3 km radius of the outbreak site.
Movement restrictions and comprehensive inspections will be enforced for 30 days on poultry farms within a 10 km radius.
All poultry farms in Icheon will have movement restrictions for 7 days.
A CARH official emphasized, "It is most important that farm owners comply with basic quarantine rules," adding, "Please thoroughly implement daily measures such as applying slaked lime, cleaning and disinfecting farmyards, changing boots, and disinfecting inside the poultry houses."
