Hongcheon-gun and Hongcheon Police Station Operate COVID-19 'Emergency Joint Response Team'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, which has launched a full survey and countermeasures for unauthorized religious and educational facilities in the jurisdiction, will operate an emergency joint response team responsible for blocking the spread within the region in case of urgent situations such as COVID-19 cluster infections in cooperation with the local police station.
According to the county on the 1st, the emergency joint response team is composed of 40 members including the Deputy Governor of Hongcheon-gun as the head of the task force, and employees from the Construction and Disaster Prevention Division, Health Center, Administration Division, Culture and Sports Division, Tourism Division, Education Division, and town and township offices.
Hongcheon Police Station is composed of 40 members including staff from the 112 Comprehensive Security Situation Room, Security and Traffic Division, Investigation Division, Intelligence, Security and Foreign Affairs Division, Community Safety Division, district units, and police boxes, operating a total of 80 members combined from both organizations.
The emergency joint response team is responsible for fundamentally blocking the spread of infectious diseases within the region through rapid information sharing via hotline and systematic quarantine measures in case of COVID-19 cluster infections occurring in multi-use facilities within the region.
Recently in Hongcheon, despite the decreasing trend of COVID-19 confirmed cases following the implementation of social distancing level 2, anxiety is spreading due to a cluster infection that occurred at a local church on the 25th of last month.
Earlier, on the 28th of last month, the county conducted a full COVID-19 test on 39 believers residing collectively at one unauthorized religious education facility in the jurisdiction and recommended voluntary disbandment; the facility decided to voluntarily disband by the 10th of this month.
Additionally, full COVID-19 testing and voluntary disbandment were recommended for one alternative school and three unauthorized educational facilities in the jurisdiction.

Governor Heo Pil-hong stated, "In preparation for the upcoming Seollal holiday, we will do our best to relieve the anxiety of residents and stabilize the region through intensive quarantine and rapid response for some multi-use facilities with a high risk of infection spread."
