Jungjingong Leads SMEs in Transition to Carbon Neutral Management
Proactive Support for Low-Carbon Management Transition to Achieve 2050 Carbon Neutrality Vision
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 1st that they will proactively introduce policies to support the transition to carbon-neutral management for small and medium-sized ventures in line with the government's '2050 Carbon Neutral Vision Declaration' last December. Carbon neutrality refers to the concept of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the main cause of global warming, or establishing measures to absorb as much carbon dioxide as is emitted, thereby making the net greenhouse gas emissions '0 (zero)'.
SBC will introduce and operate ▲Green Management Level Diagnosis ▲Challenge Diagnosis ▲Net Zero Promising Company Fund to support the transition to a low-carbon emission structure for small and medium manufacturing companies with high carbon emissions. First, SBC will conduct a 'Green Management Level Diagnosis' focusing on manufacturing industries such as the root industry (mold, casting, etc.) to measure companies' carbon emissions and establish a strategic roadmap for transitioning to low-carbon management. Next, through the Challenge Diagnosis, companies will set carbon emission reduction targets and receive focused consulting on improvement plans for processes and facilities with high energy consumption. The Challenge Diagnosis is a project that, based on company diagnosis, presents mid- to long-term management goals and leads mission achievement by linking consulting and various policy projects.
In addition, to expand the transition of small and medium ventures to green factories, support such as the 'Net Zero Promising Company Fund' will be provided, and differentiated interest rates and evaluations will be applied to low-carbon emission companies. Furthermore, in cooperation with local governments, the establishment of a 'Green Innovation Cluster' will be promoted to connect upstream and downstream industries and supply renewable energy, thereby creating industrial complexes capable of practical carbon neutrality.
