LG Electronics Signs 'One Company, One Village' Sisterhood Agreement with Four Villages Including Yeongyang, Gyeongbuk and Haenam, Jeonnam
Purchase of Agricultural Products and Donations to Welfare Facilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] On the 1st, LG Electronics announced that it signed a 'One Company One Village Sisterhood Agreement' with four villages located in Yeongyang, Gyeongbuk, Haenam, Jeonnam, and other areas to promote win-win cooperation with rural communities.
Through this agreement, LG Electronics plans to purchase agricultural products produced in the villages, donate to social welfare facilities, and engage in remodeling of communal facilities and support for home appliances. The sisterhood program also includes volunteer activities during busy farming seasons or when labor is needed, as well as recovery efforts in the event of disasters such as earthquakes or floods.
LG Electronics will also provide laptops to students from underprivileged groups living in the villages who are entering university this year. Additionally, as part of this program, LG Electronics will purchase kimchi made from napa cabbage grown in Yeongyang, Gyeongbuk, and Haenam, Jeonnam, and donate it to 800 households in the Dongui-dong area of Jongno-gu and the Namdaemun district shantytown in Jung-gu, Seoul, later this month.
