[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) is recruiting participants for the ‘2021 Safe Return Home Scout Project’ from February 2 to 8.
The project period is from March to December, and 13 people will be selected.
Applicants must be Yongsan-gu residents aged 18 or older as of the recruitment announcement date (January 27) and physically healthy individuals who can actively perform the role of Safe Return Home Scout.
Those currently employed as of the announcement date, those with more than 23 months of participation experience in the Safe Return Home Scout Project, and those enrolled in university or graduate school (including students on leave) are excluded.
The wage is based on the 2021 Seoul City living wage level (hourly wage of 10,710 KRW, with a 50% premium for night work), and a full attendance monthly payment of 899,640 KRW (based on 56 hours) will be provided.
The duties include accompanying safe return home services and patrolling vulnerable areas, with a principle of working five days a week (Monday to Friday).
Those wishing to participate in the project should submit an application form, self-introduction letter, consent form for collection, use, and provision of personal information, job seeker registration certificate, resident registration copy, health insurance payment confirmation, and other documents proving additional points to the Women and Family Division of the district office. Related forms are posted on the district website under the Notices/Announcements section.
The district will announce the final successful candidates on February 19 after document screening (first round) and interviews (second round).
A district official said, “The Safe Return Home Scout Project supports the safe return of women and youth residing in the area, conducts regular patrols focusing on women’s safety vulnerable areas, and aims to create a safe Yongsan. We hope for residents’ active interest.”
Those who wish to use the service can apply through the Seoul City ‘Ansim-i’ app, the 120 Dasan Call Center, or the Yongsan District Office duty room.
The service target is women and youth returning home at night, and if the service is requested 30 minutes before arriving at a subway station or bus stop, scouts working in pairs will accompany the user on foot to their doorstep.
Available service hours are from 10 PM to 12 AM on Mondays, and from 10 PM to 1 AM from Tuesday to Friday.
Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Last year, 5,749 residents used the safe return home service,” and added, “The district will continue to do its best to eradicate crimes targeting women and youth.”
