People Power Party: "Cheong Wa Dae, Explain the Circumstances of Document Creation and Reasons for Deletion Related to North Korean Nuclear Power Plant"
"Why Hide Documents by Dressing Up in Foreign Language If It's Just an Idea for Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation?"
Double Standards of Advocating Nuclear Phase-Out While Supporting North Korean Nuclear Power Behind the Scenes
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] On the 30th, the People Power Party urged the government to clarify the circumstances under which documents related to North Korea's nuclear power plant were created and the reasons for their deletion.
Yoon Hee-seok, spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary that "a list of 530 files and the full indictment, which were deleted without authorization by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials as if conducting a military operation, have been disclosed," adding, "Among the deleted documents, many are related to 'North Korea nuclear power plant construction and inter-Korean energy cooperation,' causing shock and fear among the public that are hard to measure."
Spokesperson Yoon questioned, "What logic could possibly justify building a nuclear power plant for North Korea, which claims to be a nuclear state, while shutting down our perfectly functioning nuclear plants?" He emphasized, "If it was merely an inter-Korean economic cooperation idea as the Ministry claims, there would be no reason to hide the documents in a foreign language that no one understands or to secretly delete them." He continued, "It is a highly reasonable conclusion that this was the intention of the core of the regime," and questioned, "Wasn't there a reason why the government and ruling party harshly criticized the Board of Audit and Inspection's nuclear power plant audit and systematically obstructed the prosecution's investigation?"
He also criticized the Blue House for threatening legal action against Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, who called this an act of treason.
Spokesperson Yoon said, "We understand that it is a difficult situation with no proper way to explain, but mentioning the law and threatening action is nothing but intimidation based on power," and pointed out, "It is even more inappropriate for the Moon Jae-in administration to talk about 'North wind operations,' and the double standard of advocating for nuclear phase-out in public while supporting nuclear power plants for North Korea behind the scenes is literally 'deception of the public.'"

Regarding the ruling party leader's comment that he "doubted his own eyes" after reading the remarks of the leader of the main opposition party, Yoon said that the public would also doubt their eyes. He added, "This is not from somewhere else but from the indictment prepared by the prosecution of the Republic of Korea," and stated, "The Blue House only needs to clarify the circumstances of the document's creation and the reasons for its deletion. The People Power Party will spare no effort to uncover the substantive truth."
