Operation of Village Teachers in Dongdaemun-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is recruiting capable 'village teachers' who can provide various educational programs to local elementary, middle, and high school students as part of the Dongdaemun Innovation Education District project.

The district aims to activate the village education community, where the village and schools work together, by discovering excellent educational human resources in the area called 'village teachers' and linking them to schools.

The recruitment fields include ▲play process ▲environmental ecology process ▲village interpretation process. Applicants must be residents of Dongdaemun-gu interested in village education activities, majoring in the respective fields, having experience in educational activities, or holding relevant certifications. Those affiliated with organizations in Dongdaemun-gu or with experience in educational activities in Dongdaemun-gu can also apply.

The selected village teachers will be active until December.

Applications are accepted from February 1 to February 10. Applicants should complete the application form and lecture operation plan attached on the Dongdaemun-gu Office website (Hope Dongdaemun → Notice Board → Public Announcements) and submit them via email (haharogi@ddm.go.kr) or visit the Dongdaemun-gu Office Education Support Division in person.

The district registers selected participants through document screening into the village teacher talent pool and shares this pool with schools that apply for the project.

In the second half of 2021, competency enhancement training will be conducted for registered village teachers to further improve their expertise.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “I hope that the 'village teachers,' as local educational resources, effectively convey various emotions to children that cannot be fulfilled by regular school classes,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to activate the village education community to make Dongdaemun-gu a place where the village raises children together.”
