[Featured Stock] PCL, COVID-19 'Era of Personal Testing'... Technology Recognized First in Europe
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] PCL is showing strong performance. The news that the Austrian government has registered PCL's COVID-19 antigen test kit as a self-test item allowed for personal use appears to be influencing the stock price.
As of 10:48 AM on the 29th, PCL is trading at 35,750 KRW, up 15.75% from the previous day.
The Austrian government provides its citizens with three COVID-19 antigen test kits per week. With this decision, individuals can purchase and use PCL's product at pharmacies, similar to pregnancy test kits. The company believes that the convenience of testing significantly influenced the decision to register it as a self-test item.
A PCL official stated, "The Austrian government contacted PCL first," and added, "Just one day after the contact, the product was promptly registered as a self-test (Eigenanwendung) item." He further said, "This is expected to have an impact on countries where testing is currently possible within pharmacies, such as Germany, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom."
