Kim Yuntae Officially Nominated as First Deputy Director of Military Mutual Aid Association and Director of KIDA

View original image[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] It has been reported that Kim Yu-geun, former First Deputy Director of the National Security Office at the Blue House, has been virtually appointed as the Chairman of the Military Mutual Aid Association, and Kim Yoon-tae, Director of the Defense Operations Reform Promotion Office at the Ministry of National Defense, has been virtually appointed as the President of the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA).
On the 29th, a government official said, "The appointments are expected to be finalized after the final approval of Defense Minister Seo Wook as early as next week."
Kim Yu-geun, former First Deputy Director (36th class of Korea Military Academy), is from Cheongju, Chungbuk, and is from the same hometown as former Presidential Chief of Staff Noh Young-min. He served as commander of the 8th Army Division, Chief of Operations Planning at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, commander of the 8th Corps, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. After retiring, he served as head of the U.S. Forces Korea Base Relocation Project Group at the Ministry of National Defense. He was also mentioned as a successor to former Defense Minister Jeong Kyung-doo but reportedly declined due to personal reasons. The Military Mutual Aid Association was established in 1984 under the Military Mutual Aid Association Act as a comprehensive welfare institution for the armed forces. Currently, the Military Mutual Aid Association has about 170,000 members, assets worth 10 trillion won, and owns six business entities, making it comparable in scale and manpower to a large corporation.

Kim Yoon-tae, Director of the Military Structure and Defense Operations Reform Promotion Office, has conducted defense research at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA) for over 30 years, serving as head of the Force Requirements Analysis Division and the Military Planning Center, and is recognized for his expertise and insight into defense reform. He previously served as a senior administrative officer at the Defense Reform Secretariat of the Blue House.
