The ‘Korea Reading Municipality Grand Prize’ is awarded to municipalities that have greatly contributed to the development of reading and publishing culture through outstanding planning and dedicated efforts, and this year marks its 5th anniversary.
The municipalities awarded this year include Wando-gun in Jeollanam-do, Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul, Donghae-si in Gangwon-do, Gongju-si in Chungcheongnam-do, Jeungpyeong-gun in Chungcheongbuk-do, and Gochang-gun in Jeollabuk-do, totaling six municipalities.
Wando-gun received high praise from the judges for continuously promoting the ‘One Eup/Myeon One Library’ project since the opening of Sinji Haetsal Small Library in 2014, contributing to the expansion of the reading culture base and the reduction of regional cultural disparities in books.
