[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the morning of the 29th, Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, instructed to mobilize all administrative resources to fully focus on search and rescue efforts following the sinking of a cargo ship near Cheongsan-do, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do.
On the same day, Minister Jeon said, "Mobilize all administrative resources to fully focus on search and rescue operations and ensure the safety of rescue personnel," and added, "Please do your best to inform the victims' families about the accident situation and support them by visiting the site."
The cargo ship Samsung 1-ho (3,582 tons), registered in Jeju, sank around 8:32 a.m. near the southern waters of Cheongsan-do, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do. This occurred about 2 hours and 20 minutes after a report was received by the Wando Coast Guard at approximately 6:10 a.m. that morning.
There were 9 people on board the cargo ship. Eight of the nine crew members have been rescued, and related agencies including the Coast Guard, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and local governments are preparing for search and rescue operations for the remaining one person.

Minister Jeon also instructed to thoroughly prepare for oil spill prevention to protect nearby aquaculture farms from damage in anticipation of marine pollution related to the oil leak.
