Seodaemun-gu Raises Monthly Collection Compensation Limit for Illegal Mobile Advertisements to 1.5 Million KRW
Starting This March, 'Illegal Mobile Advertisement Collection Reward System' Implemented... Monthly Reward Limit Raised from 800,000 KRW Last Year to 1,500,000 KRW... 'Temporary Workers Recruitment' for Illegal Advertisement Cleanup and Crackdown Also Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will implement the 'Illegal Mobile Advertising Collection Reward System' starting this March to improve urban aesthetics through resident participation.
This system rewards pre-selected residents for collecting illegal banners, flyers, posters, stickers, and business card-type flyers posted or distributed on back roads, alleys, and main roads, with compensation based on their collection performance.
Residents aged 20 or older who wish to participate must visit their local community service center to apply between February 1 and 10.
The district plans to select a few residents from each of the 14 neighborhoods, focusing on low-income individuals, unemployed persons, and those who did not participate last year. However, basic livelihood security recipients and unemployment benefit recipients are not eligible to apply.
To encourage greater interest and participation, the district has increased the monthly compensation limit from 800,000 won last year to 1,500,000 won and added business card-type flyers to the collection targets, in addition to existing banners, posters, and flyers.
For reference, the compensation amounts are as follows: for illegal banners, 2,000 won for general types over 5㎡, and 1,000 won for banner types under 5㎡; for illegal flyers/posters, 300 won for A4 size or larger, and 200 won for smaller sizes; for stickers, 500 won for sizes 10x10cm or larger, and 300 won for smaller sizes.
Activities can continue until the related budget is exhausted, with operations expected to run until around November.
The district will take administrative actions such as imposing fines on the submitted illegal advertisements.
Additionally, Seodaemun-gu is recruiting temporary workers aged 20 to 60 for illegal advertisement cleanup and enforcement.
Applicants can download the application form from the 'Notices' section on the Seodaemun-gu website, fill it out, and apply in person at the Advertising Management Team, Construction Management Division, 6th floor of Seodaemun-gu Office, between February 15 and 17.
Seven candidates will be selected through a first-round document screening and a second-round interview. Successful applicants will work eight hours a day on weekdays from March to December this year.
