Assemblyman Kim Jeong-ho to Eliminate Agency Head Confirmation Procedure for Civil Servant Injury Benefit Applications
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Kim Jeong-ho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Gimhae-si Eul in Gyeongnam, has introduced a bill to abolish the prior confirmation procedure by the head of the affiliated institution in the process of applying for work-related injury benefits for public officials.
According to Kim's office on the 27th, the current "Public Officials Injury Compensation Act" requires public officials to obtain confirmation from the head of their affiliated institution when applying for injury benefits due to work-related illness, injury, or death.
However, in the vertical organizational culture of public officials, undergoing the confirmation procedure by a superior, the head of the affiliated institution, hinders the prompt payment of benefits and creates a burden in the application itself.
The partially amended bill proposed this time removes the confirmation procedure by the head of the affiliated institution for various benefit claims due to work-related injuries, thereby lowering the threshold for injury applications and enabling fair and appropriate compensation.

Rep. Kim said, "Compensation for work-related injuries is a social security measure that should be rightfully received not only by general workers but also by public officials," adding, "Public officials also need prompt confirmation and payment when work-related injuries occur, and there should be no burden in the application process."
