Gangdong-gu Operates 'Seol Holiday Online Direct Market'
From January 25 to February 12, Over 150 Local Specialties from 18 Sister Cities Nationwide Paired with Gangdong-gu Showcased
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is operating an "Untact (non-face-to-face) direct transaction market for sister cities' excellent agricultural, marine, and specialty products" to celebrate the New Year of the Ox.
The aim is to provide residents with excellent local specialty products recommended by sister cities and counties at affordable prices, support farmers affected by COVID-19, and contribute to the recovery of the depressed local economy.
This Gangdong-gu "New Year Sister Cities Specialty Products Untact Market" involves all 18 local governments nationwide that have sister city relationships with Gangdong-gu. In addition to gift sets related to the Lunar New Year, about 150 items of specialty products directly produced by farmers in production areas (such as mushrooms, wild greens, red pepper powder, etc.) are prepared.
Consumers who wish to purchase can place orders by phone directly with the sellers (producers) and make payments via bank transfer, after which the specialty products are delivered from the production areas in an untact (non-face-to-face) transaction method.
Recently, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the trend of "non-face-to-face consumption enjoyed in the palm of your hand" has been spreading, and it is predicted that many residents will order and have gift sets delivered non-face-to-face instead of visiting their hometowns during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
The online ordering period for Gangdong-gu sister cities' specialty products is from January 25 to February 12, ahead of the Lunar New Year. Detailed information can be found through Gangdong-gu newsletters, leaflets, the district office website, and other online and offline promotional materials.
