Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do to Raise Sewerage Fees by an Average of 12% Starting February

Gwangju City announced on the 26th that "to resolve the chronic financial deficit of the sewerage public enterprise, ensure soundness, operate sewage treatment plants stably, and maintain pipelines, sewerage fees will be raised by an average of 12% from the February billing cycle."
According to the city, this increase is the final year of a three-year plan. For household users, the monthly fee for 10 tons of usage will rise from 6,380 KRW to 7,080 KRW, an increase of 700 KRW, and for 20 tons of usage, the fee will increase from 12,760 KRW to 14,160 KRW, a rise of 1,400 KRW.
This reflects the revised "Gwangju-si Sewerage Usage Ordinance" from 2019, which aims to raise fees by an average of 12% over three years to realize sewerage fee actualization.

According to this revision, fees were increased by 10% in 2019 and 12% in 2020, resulting in the sewerage fee actualization rate rising from 35.14% to 37.93% in 2019, an increase of 2.79%.
