Kim Mikyung, Eunpyeong District Mayor, Participates in Online Meeting for Child Abuse Prevention with National and Public Childcare Center Association
Future Expansion of Support for 'Open Daycare Centers' to Foster Organic Cooperation Between Parents and Daycare Centers, Creating an Environment for Optimal Childcare
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Recently, at a time when social interest in child abuse has increased due to incidents such as the so-called ‘Jeong-in case,’ a district office has attracted attention by holding an online meeting to prevent child abuse.
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) held the first 2021 online video conference of the National Public and Private Daycare Center Association on the 20th.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, participated in the meeting and urged efforts to prevent and eradicate child abuse.
All 78 directors of district-run daycare centers in the area participated in the meeting, which was held successfully, focusing on child abuse prevention and compliance with COVID-19 quarantine measures.
In particular, starting this year, the district plans to support all 78 district-run daycare centers to participate in operating ‘Open Daycare Centers’ to create a childcare environment where parents can trust and entrust their children, eradicate child abuse, and provide excellent childcare services.
‘Open Daycare Centers’ refer to daycare centers where parents participate routinely in terms of facility structure and operation, allowing parents to freely and comfortably observe, thereby expanding and developing parent participation activities and programs.
Going forward, the district aims to create conditions where parents and daycare centers can organically cooperate and do their best in child care through expanded support for ‘Open Daycare Centers.’
Additionally, to prevent child abuse, the district plans to establish a comprehensive childcare plan for 2021, focusing on child abuse prevention education for childcare staff and parents of infants and young children, psychological treatment for childcare staff, and expanded operation of ‘Open Daycare Centers,’ making every effort to prevent and stop child abuse.
