The Korea Package Design Awards is a representative domestic package design ceremony hosted by the Korea Package Design Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, and the Korea Design Federation. The winning works are selected through strict evaluation by experts representing the package design industry based on three criteria: visual communication, packaging technology, and marketing concept.
Jeong, Baek, and Hong noodles received high scores for their differentiated design and materials compared to other products in the category, earning them the silver award. This is the highest award grade among ramen new products launched in 2020.
The three types of Jeong, Baek, and Hong noodles are ramen with a new concept made by roasting natural ingredients. The ‘HTT roasting method’ enhances the original taste of each ingredient to produce a rich and deep flavor.
Pulmuone reflected the fact that this is a new ramen unique to Pulmuone, which had not existed in the market before, in the product package design as well. By prominently emphasizing the single characters ‘Jeong’, ‘Baek’, and ‘Hong’, it clearly expresses the identity of ‘Pulmuone’s ramen’ and ‘Pulmuone’s Jeong, Baek, Hong noodles’, different from ordinary ramen.
The package boldly omits the usual ramen cooking example images seen on traditional ramen packages and instead places only images of the ingredients on the front to focus on the essence of Jeong, Baek, Hong noodles, which maximizes the taste of natural ingredients.
Water-based ink is used for package printing, making it safer for the human body. Additionally, it reduces the amount of carbon generated during the solvent manufacturing stage and helps prevent air pollution during the packaging material manufacturing process, making it eco-friendly.
Park Hyun-min, team leader of Pulmuone Design Center, said, “The Jeong, Baek, Hong noodle package design sincerely and confidently conveys the philosophy of the ‘Jayeoneun Masitda’ brand, which pursues healthy noodles that are not fried in oil and ramen that brings out the original taste of the ingredients.” He added, “With a bold design that breaks the stereotypes of ramen package design, it was able to leave an impression on consumers.”
