[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Motegi Toshimitsu, Japan's Foreign Minister, stated on the 22nd that he will not appeal the first-instance ruling in the Seoul Central District Court in which the Japanese government lost a lawsuit filed by comfort women victims. Accordingly, the first-instance ruling will be finalized at midnight on the 23rd, the deadline for appeal.
At a press conference on the 22nd, Foreign Minister Motegi said, "(Although there is still time until the appeal deadline) it is still in the hypothetical stage, but we will not appeal."
