Confirmation of Negative COVID-19 Test Before Boarding and Mandatory Self-Quarantine Upon Arrival in the United States
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] U.S. President Joe Biden has signed an executive order mandating self-quarantine for those arriving in the United States from overseas.
On the second day of his inauguration, the 21st (local time), President Biden signed about 10 executive orders related to the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) at the White House.
In his speech that day, President Biden stated, "Everyone coming to the United States from overseas must submit a COVID-19 test result and quarantine upon arrival in the U.S."
He also signed an executive order requiring passengers on airplanes, trains, ships, and buses to wear masks.
An executive order was also issued to prepare for administering 100 million vaccine doses within the first 100 days of his administration, along with the activation of the Defense Production Act to expand vaccine and protective equipment production.
President Biden reaffirmed his commitment to increasing vaccinations and testing to enable schools and businesses to reopen as part of the COVID-19 response.

President Biden expressed concern, saying, "It will take several months to reverse the current situation. We will probably see a death toll of 500,000 by next month."
