On the same day, Prime Minister Chung visited 'Ilsin Bio Base,' a company producing ultra-low temperature freezers located in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province, and said, "Please cooperate to ensure there are no disruptions in the production and supply of ultra-low temperature freezers with the sense of mission that you are contributing to protecting the health and lives of the people."
The vaccine developed by the U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer is known to require transportation and storage at minus 70 degrees Celsius, making the transport conditions demanding. This schedule was arranged as the Pfizer vaccine is expected to be introduced domestically as early as the beginning to mid-next month, and Prime Minister Chung visited the ultra-low temperature freezer manufacturer essential for vaccine distribution to encourage them.
Ilsin Bio has been developing and producing ultra-low temperature freezer products for over 30 years. Its annual production capacity is up to about 4,000 units. Recently, it signed a supply contract for COVID-19 vaccine freezers with the Public Procurement Service.
Upon arrival at the site, Prime Minister Chung listened to an explanation about the production status of ultra-low temperature freezers from Lee Jeong-min, Head of Production Support at Ilsin Bio Base, and said, "Public interest in vaccine storage and distribution is increasing," adding, "The government is thoroughly preparing all processes from the moment the vaccine arrives, including transportation, storage, vaccination, and post-management. However, since the appropriate temperature varies depending on the COVID-19 vaccine product, storage and distribution management is indeed very complicated."

He continued, "We must take the difficulties experienced by countries that started vaccinations earlier than us as a lesson and prepare more meticulously so that such incidents never occur in our country," and encouraged the officials by saying, "I am proud and reassured that ultra-low temperature freezers, essential items for the cold chain to store COVID-19 vaccines, are produced by our technology and our companies."
