View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, said at the emergency committee meeting held on the 21st, "If former KBS President Jeong Yeon-ju is being considered as a candidate for the Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee chairperson, withdraw it immediately even now."
Floor leader Joo stated, "There is concern as candidates who could spark controversy due to political bias are being rumored."
He pointed out, "Former President Jeong accused the founding contributors of the Republic of Korea as pro-Japanese collaborators through public broadcasting waves, causing controversy over historical bias that denies legitimacy, and praised Venezuelan Chavez as a semi-anti-liberal fighter. In 2006, he aired a documentary titled 'Beyond Neoliberalism: Chavez's Challenge' during the weekend prime time Sunday Special, promoting anti-globalization and anti-market economy as the path we should take. I am curious about what he says regarding the current state of Venezuela."
He continued, "He scolded that acquiring U.S. citizenship is a privilege of a special class, but he personally submitted documents for his two sons' military service exemption to the U.S. Embassy, and when the U.S. citizenship of his two sons became controversial, he stubbornly argued whether that was a reason to give up the KBS presidency. This controversy was an attempt to cover up the reason his sons avoided military duty by pretending as if his sons were fully settled in the U.S.," he said.

Floor leader Joo warned, "It is absurd that he is even being considered for the Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee chairperson. While cabinet ministers are appointed arbitrarily by the Owls faction, filling positions with their own people will make national unity increasingly difficult and will cause public sentiment to drift away."
