"The First Year of Lifelong Learning City Development" ... Sangju City Establishes Dedicated Digital Studio for Lifelong Education
Establishment of the 2021 Basic Plan ... 900 Million Investment in Over 30 Projects
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Sangju City announced on the 21st that it will establish and operate the 2021 Lifelong Education Basic Plan with the goal of becoming a "Lifelong Learning City Connected by Learning."
The city plans to invest a total of 900 million KRW in more than 30 projects, focusing on strategic tasks such as activated smart lifelong learning, specialized regional lifelong learning, socially integrative lifelong learning, and globally oriented lifelong learning.
Last year, Sangju completed all the basic requirements for designation as a lifelong learning city, including establishing a mid- to long-term comprehensive plan for lifelong education and adopting a resolution by the city council. It plans to make 2021 the inaugural year for the development of the lifelong learning city and accelerate its projects. In particular, it decided to focus on non-face-to-face education in line with the new lifelong education environment in the post-COVID-19 era.
The city will lay the foundation by building a dedicated digital studio and revising ordinances related to online education, and operate various non-face-to-face lifelong education programs through an integrated lifelong learning platform. It will also conduct capacity-building training for non-face-to-face instructors to revitalize online lifelong education, seeking a qualitative transformation of lifelong education.
Additionally, it will expand marginalized lifelong learning programs for the disabled and multicultural families, as well as cultural heritage and resource-based programs such as "Stories of Life-Biology-Ecology Told by Grandmothers and Grandfathers," and Sangju cultural humanities "Baeknyeon Tarae."
Since 2006, Sangju City has steadily operated literacy education, visiting delivery lectures, and job creation education, starting with the mobile women's center and citizen academy. It also attracted attention as the first in Gyeongbuk to conduct non-face-to-face education during the difficult period of face-to-face education due to COVID-19.
