Operation of the 'Seolnal Non-Face-to-Face Direct Transaction Market' in Gangseo-gu, Seoul
9 Sister Cities' Excellent Agricultural and Specialty Products Available at Low Prices... Triple Benefits of Price, Safety, and Health
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will operate the '2021 Lunar New Year Non-face-to-face Direct Transaction Market' from January 25 to February 5.
Every year, the district has operated a direct transaction market in the district office parking lot so that residents can easily purchase high-quality agricultural and specialty products produced in sister cities.
However, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, it was decided to operate in a non-face-to-face manner again this Lunar New Year, following last Chuseok.
The purpose is to help farmers in sister cities who are struggling due to COVID-19 and to provide residents with healthy food.
The direct transaction market will be joined by nine sister cities: Imsil-gun, Sangju-si, Taean-gun, Gangneung-si, Yeosu-si, Haman-gun, Suncheon-si, Jeongeup-si, and Goesan-gun.
The products for sale include ▲Imsil cheese ▲Sangju dried persimmons ▲Taean gamtae (seaweed) ▲Gangneung dried mushrooms ▲Yeosu steamed mugwort rice cakes ▲Haman dried persimmons ▲Suncheon Nagan Singo pears ▲Jeongeup traditional Korean sweets ▲Goesan kimchi, representing each region's agricultural and specialty products.
By directly connecting producers and consumers without intermediate distribution processes, various excellent local agricultural and specialty products can be purchased at prices lower than the market.
To operate this direct transaction market, the district has prepared a 'Sister Cities Non-face-to-face Direct Transaction Market' section on the district office website.
By accessing the district office website and clicking the 'Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct Transaction Market' banner or navigating to 'Life Information - Gangseo Economy - Online Direct Transaction Market,' residents can check promotional leaflets containing information about various agricultural and specialty products and sellers from sister cities.
Additionally, the district has placed promotional leaflets at the district office civil service center and each neighborhood community center to encourage more residents to participate in the direct transaction market.
Residents who wish to participate can check the promotional leaflets on the district office website or at the district office and neighborhood community centers, contact the sellers of the agricultural and specialty products they want to purchase, or visit the sellers' websites to place orders and make payments.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "As the COVID-19 situation prolongs, many farmers are struggling to secure sales channels for their agricultural and specialty products. We hope residents show great interest and participation in the non-face-to-face direct transaction market, which helps sister city farmers and allows purchasing quality agricultural products at affordable prices."
