Nuri Telecom Selected as Home Smart Power Platform Operator
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Nuritelecom, which is focusing on the Green New Deal project, announced on the 20th that it has been selected as the government’s home smart power platform operator.
The home smart power platform project is one of the Green New Deal projects promoted by the government. Following its selection last November as the operator for building a home smart power platform for 200,000 households, it was selected again this year for an additional 200,000 households. An agreement with the Korea Smart Grid Business Group was signed on the 19th.
Nuritelecom will replace existing old meters with new smart meters in 400,000 apartment households nationwide. It will build a smart power infrastructure applying PKI certificates to collect and analyze power usage data and provide power information services.

The smart power platform construction project is aimed at expanding new businesses utilizing power big data. Depending on power usage patterns, users can choose between progressive rates or time-of-use rates. It is expected to have effects such as mitigating power peaks through demand response and reducing electricity bills for households choosing time-of-use rates.
