Daejeon Supplies a Record High of 34,945 Housing Units This Year
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A total of 34,945 housing units will be supplied in Daejeon this year, marking the largest scale of housing supply in the region's history.
Daejeon City announced the '2021 Daejeon City Housing Supply Plan' on the 20th. According to the city, 30,385 apartment units and 4,560 multi-family, multi-household, and row houses are scheduled to be supplied this year in the region.
Among these, 4,587 units are rental housing, and 25,528 units are for sale. Excluding cooperative member sales, general housing sales amount to 21,511 units.
According to the apartment supply plan by district, Dong-gu will supply a total of 3,063 units, including 934 units from the Daeseong District urban development project. Jung-gu is scheduled to supply 6,297 units, including 1,845 units of residential-commercial complexes in the motel-dense commercial area of Seonhwa-dong and 997 units from the Seonhwa redevelopment district.
Seo-gu will supply 7,821 units, including 1,974 units from the Tanbang-dong 1st district (Sungeorisaem) reconstruction and 2,763 units from the Yongmun-dong 1st, 2nd, and 3rd district reconstructions. Yuseong-gu will supply 6,524 units, including 1,791 units of public-supported private rental housing in Daedeok District and 1,800 units from the Doan 2-3 district urban development project. Daedeok-gu will supply 3,137 units, including 745 units from the Eupnae-dong Hoedeok regional housing cooperative.
The apartments to be supplied this year are divided into 16,660 units (55%) by private construction, 10,182 units (33%) by maintenance projects, and 3,543 units (12%) by public construction.
The city plans to supply (sell) more than 12,000 housing units annually until 2030.

Kim Jun-yeol, Director of the City Urban Housing Bureau, said, “We will monitor housing market trends and supply an appropriate amount of sale and rental housing in a timely manner to prevent oversupply or shortage. We expect that expanding the supply volume will help stabilize prices in the overheated real estate market.”
