In particular, as non-face-to-face consumption has expanded due to COVID-19, the live commerce sector is rapidly growing.
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) is following this trend and nurturing talent capable of conducting live commerce to overcome the deepened youth employment difficulties caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, the district was selected for the “City-District Upward and Cooperative Job Creation Contest” aimed at discovering jobs based on the characteristics of each region through planning reflecting on-site demand, with the project titled “Job Creation Project through Activation of Live Commerce-Based Marketing Services.” A total project budget of 88 million KRW was invested to carry out this project.
To proceed with the full-scale project, the district is recruiting an implementing agency to carry out the project by the 29th of this month.
The selected project entity, chosen through the “Dongdaemun-gu Job Committee” review, will be responsible for recruiting trainees, conducting education, and running live markets.
Following the selection of the project entity, a project team composed of experts with extensive practical experience will be formed. They will select 30 youth participants for the project, providing education on understanding the live commerce industry, discovering and planning local brands, and content production. Graduates will receive support for employment and entrepreneurship.
After completing the training, participants will help revitalize the local economy by directly selling products of local small business owners, who are struggling due to a significant decrease in market visits caused by COVID-19, and social economy enterprises that find market development challenging, through live commerce.
