SPC Group Coffee@Works Launches Anaerobic Fermentation Coffee 'Sixworks'
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Specialty coffee brand Coffee@Works, operated by SPC Group, announced on the 19th the launch of 'Six Works,' an anaerobic fermentation coffee using patented fermentation strains.
Anaerobic fermentation is a method of fermenting green coffee beans or coffee cherries for an extended period in an oxygen-free environment. It can create richer flavors compared to conventional coffee and has recently emerged as a global trend.
The key lies in native yeast (SPC SNU 70-1) and native lactic acid bacteria (SPC-SNU 70-2~4). After 13 years of research, SPC Group researchers discovered microorganisms in traditional Korean foods and obtained patents.
SPC Group applied its proprietary fermentation technology to Six Works, adding rich flavors of hazelnut, vanilla, and caramel. The coffee beans will be processed at the 'El Paraiso' farm in the Cauca region of Colombia.
