Get Free Sanitary Pads for Low-Income Female Adolescents
Purchasable with Voucher Payment
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Female adolescents aged 11 to 18 who are recipients of livelihood, medical, housing, and education benefits, legally designated low-income groups, and support recipients under the Single-Parent Family Support Act can receive sanitary pads free of charge.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 17th that it is accepting applications for sanitary pad purchase vouchers for low-income female adolescents.
Applications can be made by the adolescent herself or her guardian by visiting the local town, township, or neighborhood community service center at the adolescent's address, or by accessing the Bokjiro website and mobile application to apply directly.
Since support continues until the end of the year when the adolescent turns 18 once applied, there is no need to reapply for those who have already applied.
Purchase points are calculated and provided monthly from the month of application and do not carry over to the next year, so 11-year-olds newly eligible this year and 12 to 18-year-olds who have not yet applied should hurry to apply.
To use the purchase voucher, after applying for the service, the adolescent or guardian must obtain a National Happiness Card issued in their name. Purchases can then be made at designated online and offline retailers specified by each card company.
